Artist's description:

My current series of oil paintings titled Shades of Grey is a traditional approach to the contemporary dilemma. I spend six months on each painting because I am puzzled that in the time when billions of images are posted every day only, we are conditioned to take a quick picture and distributed it all over the world, transforming an image of our selves into something fast and superficial. And yet human existence in its complexity implies that each face is more than an image. Each face is an imprint of the past, the present, and the future of one human being. These paintings are “selfies” and the opposite of, because they metamorphosed to show 64000 shapes in 54 Shades of Grey in order to communicate every moment, every memory that has left a mark. This life is neither black or white - it is made of millions of Shades of Grey. Each shade talks about the complexity of a human condition and the identity refusing to be described by a one liner answer to: Name…Sex…Relationship…Employment….
