Artist's description:

This is a work that I also painted in the very old garden of La Grancia in Montisi, the village where I lived until three years ago when we moved to France.

Ever since I set foot in Tuscany many years ago, I have been enchanted by citrous fruits in beautiful antique terracotta pots and I have continued to be fascinated enough to continue making paintings of them. I never tire of this subject.

These huge pots are always brought inside to the "limonaia" before every winter where they are safe from harsh frosts. When they return outside, there is a painted mark on one side of the pot so that they will always face exactly the right way again, towards the south.

Materials used:

Oil paint
