This oil painting is of one of my favourite places on Mull. I've started to go out and paint in situ (weather permitting!) and this painting is one of the first I've completed on the beach. I'm reading a lot of books about painters at the moment, from the Scottish Colourists to the St. Ives painters, so I'm taking particular influence from Cadell and Nicholson. My style is ranging from very tight and detailed to loose and expressive, like this piece, which reflects my own personality. I love the freedom of these expressionistic pieces.
The painting is on a double primed kiln fired frame canvas, made in the UK.
