Painted on an autumn day in the woodland around Lamorna Cove, Cornwall. Ancient woodlands, tracks and sun filtering through the branches and foliage. As always, my work is not about fixing a moment, like a photograph, but about spending time in nature and the energy of the place. As I painted, hours moved on, light changed, I felt the wind and falling leaves, sounds and smells. There is always movement, rather than stillness in nature and my work interprets what I see and intuitively feel in expressive gesture and marks.
