Artist's description:

'Ladytrons' is the title of a track on Roxy Music's first album released in 1972. The album affected my musical tastes and influenced my approach to art for the rest of his life.

The lyrics suggest a plea aimed at a synthetic 'robot' lover. 'Ladytrons' presents a conveyor belt production of multiple robot lovers... each, a unique composite of multiple heroines.

Another Roxy Music track, 'In Every Dreamhome a Heartache', includes the following words: "I bought you mail order... My plain wrapper baby... Your skin is like vinyl... The perfect companion... You float in my new pool... Deluxe and delightful... The plastic you" - a good description of the figures in the artwork perhaps.
