In Finnish mythology and folklore Kuutar is the goddess of the moon and night. Her name is derived from the word "Kuu" which means "moon" in Finnish. Her sister is goddess Päivätär. She is the goddess of the sun and day. Together they weave golden and silver threads that we know as the light of the moon and the light of the sun.
