The idea for this painting came about when I was driving early evening for work. I was waiting at the traffic lights with the sun very low in the sky and looking at the reflections on the wet road from an earlier shower. Lots of Swedes were rushing around getting ready to go home, or get some final shopping in. On this street, there are two tall buildings just beyond the bridge overlooking the crossing. I am not an expert on Swedish architecture but they have a certain 1920’s art deco style in my opinion which I particularly like. The red buildings to the left curve away down to one of the most popular and expensive shopping/restaurants locations which in turn leads to the harbour and ferries.
I am planning to paint a larger picture of this scene in the future with more cars and people crossing over the streets and more reflections, but I particularly liked working on this smaller version.
