Artist's description:

I grew up in the shadow of the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales. The land here is harsh, great crags enclose bare sweeps of wild, open moorland, swept by untamed winds. Home to some of the hardiest sheep ever bred, eking a living from this landscape has always been fragile. However, on the 'edge lands', the places where the moors and fells fall down to the great industrial plane of Teesside, there exists a ribbon of fertile land, given over to a gentler, arable way of farming. Autumn dawnlight, as the sun creeps over Roseberry Topping and the northern edge of the Cleveland Hills, is always a favourite time for me. The scene here was captured just days before harvest time.
