I so enjoyed painting this impressionist portrait of a long-time family friend. I photographed Katelynn in the Portland Rose Garden. I loved seeing the wonder in her face as she experienced this historic garden for the very first time. In this pose, her face wasn't being lit by the warm overhead sun, rather, she was is lit indirectly by the light reflecting off the beautiful roses. There is diffused colorful light bouncing all over the place. It was the perfect soft light to describe the fresh features of a young woman. The setting, the model, the day, was everything this colorist could ever want.

The portrait can hang either framed, or unframed, and will fit in any decor. She is sure to bring a fresh young spirit to any room she hangs in.
