Artist's description:

I caught an expression of a Kalash Tribal dancer while pausing between routines. It struck me how human we all are despite where we come from. So I composed this pensive, 'far away' facial expression based on her face. I wanted the viewer to engage with this expression and wonder what she's thinking- even comparing our problems to hers.

I chose to avoid my usual watercolour loose painterly style and instead use pencils to get the jewellery (dowry) details and limit distraction by avoiding colour. I find the emphasis is purely on her expression within that cultural context.

What do you think? Does it make you think? Would love your feedback.
