As part of my art practice I go to weekly figure drawing groups. In figure drawing, I am fast, furious and heavy handed as I carve my line out of space. Each week I draw, go back to the studio, paint over, collage over and write over the parts that don’t seem to be working. I go back to figure drawing and redraw, then cut, paste, paint, and draw and draw and draw until I get something that speaks to me. I never throw anything out. I work and rework until I discover a story evolving. In this piece you can see the layering of the drawn and painted figures combined with hand lettering and stenciling. This image is on heavy stock drawing paper.
