Artist's description:

Working at the wood shop gave me many advantages and lead the artist in me into adventurous new paths of discoveries. My creativity is constantly being sparked by my surroundings, being a sustainable recycle artist I am always finding new life to old and discarded items. at the wood shop I found inspiration in the wood scraps laying around. We saved everything for a long time until we could no longer maneuver around our space so we had to stop. During that time I would just look at the wood and know one day it would all come to me, and it did. In this case, it was a progression of ideas, Journey is the fourth piece I created from the scrap wood and in this instance I had already decided I wanted to let the installation be raw, not framed in linear edges, like painting outside the lines, it is un-corralled, I LOVE this piece. Journey is intended to inspire expanse and tranquillity, looking at the horizon, it has a very earthy and organic feel. The simplicity of this piece instills a primitive forecast to a bright future... For a year I had it sitting solo, like the last image shown here and though I loved it, it had a strong organic feel to it, almost too organic. It was a hard handle, on a moment of clarity I realized it was missing the background which I added just now and It changed the whole dynamic of this piece, grounding it somehow, making it a magnificent piece.
