Artwork description:
On a commercial job to Palm Springs, my assistant and I decided to drive to the Joshua Tree National Monument to photograph the wonderful rock formations at night. Due to the limited time we had, we came very unprepared for the rigours of night photography and had to make use of the utensils we had at our disposal.
I framed the scene and then asked my assistant to wander through the scrubland with his phone to illuminate the foreground. Using a long shutter speed, his image didn't register and the picture was produced.
