Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

This is part of my Norse Mythology series. Jormungand was a serpent (a child of Loki) that encircled the earth, and was fated to battle Thor at Ragnarok, the final battle and the doom of the gods. This painting was part of an exercise I was working on, in which I did a painting a day for 7 days.

I was exploring the creatures and beasts of Norse mythology and Jormungand caught my eye. There's something primal and elemental about the creature that made me think it would be great to paint.

I used some reference of sea creatures and snakes for the design, but mainly this painting was just about energy, and creating a dynamic image. I worked with the pallet knife again on the background as I love the shapes and textures it can create. This was a lot of fun to paint.
