Artist's description:

Japan has always appealed to me. Its a culture that seems so different than my own, so alien, so very strange and thus so appealing. I remember spending a whole night watching outtakes from Japanese TV on YouTube with my girlfriend. Ive never seen anything as funny in my life. The imagination that went into those shows was astounding. Totaly bizzare and utterly outrageous, I seriously nearly wet myself!

When I was a child I loved reading comics. One of these was 'Battle for Boys', as you might imagine, a comic specifically tailored to a young boys love of war. At that age war seemed exciting and adventurous. Later I joined the army. I wasn't in for very long as I injured my knee. One night whilst still in training, me and my fellow recruits were layed in bed reading war comics. We had just received our helmets and were wearing them to try to stretch the fitting to our heads. Out of nowhere the corporal came into our room and went totally bananas. All because we had thrown our 'real soldier' helemets and our 'pretend soldier, comics into
the mix together. That next day on parade he made us stand for an hour reading the comics out aloud and making the relevent 'war noises'; my comic was a commando story about British forces fighting the Japanese in Burma!

A few years ago I got a taste for chillies. Infact it was more than a taste, it was a total addiction. I ate chillies with everything. breakfast, dinner, tea and snacks in between. This lasted about two years, until one day I went to the local shop and bought an ice lolly. I dropped the chillies instantly and became addicted to Ice Lollies! Fire and Ice.
