This print is part of a series of 5.
The bird is printed in black on the Chiyogami paper. The Chiyogami paper has been used as chine colle. Glue (starch based, acid free) is applied to the wrong side of the Chiyogami paper and it is placed onto the inked lino block face down. The printing paper (Somerset 300g paper) is then placed on top. This is then put through the press and the bird is printed onto the Chiyogami paper which in turn is glued to the Somerset paper. The pressure of the press compresses the papers together.
The Chiyogami paper is hand screen printed paper from Japan. The designs were originally based on the bright Kimono textiles from the Edo period (1603-1868).
The birds look good framed singly or as a group and hung vertically or horizontally.
The price quoted is for the print only.
