Artist's description:

This batik is part of my 'Botanicals' collection and was developed from a photograph I took of my own Japanese Anemone in full flower back in summer 2016. I love it when this plant blooms; the flowers are beautifully simple but have such a sculptural quality to them. The bees absolutely love them too!

When I looked at the photo I had taken I decided I wanted to try a produce a batik that imitated traditional Japanese woodblock designs, which I love. Given the subject matter it seemed the perfect marriage! To get the right effect I used bleach to lift out the background colour which gave it this really stylised quality.

I am currently raising money for Mind, a UK based mental health charity. I am hoping to raise £800 and will be doing the Mind Hike in June 2018; a 24 hour walk around Cornwall to raise awareness. All profits from the sale of all my batiks will be donated to this, so please #makemeanoffer and know that you will be supporting a great cause!
