Portrait of a Jaipur box wallah - a peddler with a box containing his wares. This man was seen on an early February morning, which is why he was heavily clothed.
I work in acrylic because it allows me to experiment, making changes quickly is paramount when wishing to explore my options. I apply the acrylic in successive washes to achieve a soft structure and then overpaint most areas with a more opaque use of the pigments. I use artists hogs hair brushes to apply and manipulate the paint with large 2" brushes to spread the washes. The work is painted on a Superior Rolled Canvas board as I like the rigidity and fine surface, plus the longevity and resistance to damage has a proven record.
