Years before I fell in love with colors, I was very monochromatic and into black-n'-white graphic style. Still love it and delve into ink drawing from time to time. Usually, it's either book illustrations, concept drawing from my imagination or plain mindless doodling, which I start with a line or some other element and take it from there in whichever direction my creative spirit moves me. Only after I'm done drawing, I assess the results and come up with a title for the finished artwork.
This drawing, one of the products of a graphic binge a few years ago and one of what's turned out to be a series of 9"x12" b&w faces – graphic expression of certain emotions, states of mind or character traits. This particular drawing – a portrait of a middle-aged, cynical woman, who'd turned bitter after being burned by her life experiences. I don't recall being influenced or inspired by anything drawing such an image: it's just came out seemingly from out of nowhere :)...
The artwork is done in Pentel fine point jel-ink pen on a white smooth thick (Bristol) paper.
