The ivory-billed woodpecker is part of my endangered bird series. But actually, this bird is extinct. Some people in a town in Arkansas thought they saw the ivory-billed woodpecker, and some enterprising folks had t-shirts and mugs made. Alas and alack, no ivory-billed woodpecker was found, and they have a lot of t-shirts and mugs on their hands!
And, of course, Carl Hiassen's famous governor, Skink, spots the ivory-billed woodpecker in the swamplands of Florida, but anything is possible when the ex-governor is around!!
I drew this bird onto linoleum, cut it out, printed it onto Strathmore paper with oil-based ink and then hand-colored it with watercolor!
