'Islington Green' offers a liberally interpretation of the urban cartography within the London borough of Islington. The main linear arteries represent Caledonian Road, Upper Street and Essex Road. The velvety black veins divide up green segments, with hints of vibrant blue and pink peering through.
About the series: I live in a vast city and rely on public transit and foot. The effort and time to move from point a to b is an ever present part of my life perspective, therefore some 'Linescapes' are now defining physical boundaries and morphing into cartographic themes in the 'borderlines series'.
Note: this painting, left unframed, intentionally reveals my artistic process. The random paint build-up and serendipitous drips that coat the sides of the deep edge canvas are meant to be seen.
