What does the word Groove mean?
Groove is the "sensation", rhythmically expansive, in this sense, color and form dialogue giving it a visual swing, inspired by Rothko's paintings in the use of glazes and color mixed with the impasto technique to give corporality to the portrait.
This little experiment was an attempt to get out of the sober portrait but still represent masculinity in a more sensitive and androgynous way. Masculinity is diverse in many aspects and should not always be represented through strength and power as it has been throughout the history of art.
