Artist's description:

This was shot on a boat tour I went last Summer, where it took me and also other tourists, inside the Blue Grotto and also other nearby caves. One can admire the rock formations which are 100's of years old and also the crystal clear blue sea.

The Blue Grotto is a number of sea caverns on the south coast of Malta, east of the fishermen's harbour Wied iż-Żurrieq. Wied iż-Żurrieq is in the village of Qrendi and the blue grotto cave located within the Qrendi village as per Local Council Act 1993 It is located right across from the small uninhabited islet of Filfla.

Every day from sunrise until about 1 pm a unique sight can be observed here. The location of the cave combined with the sunlight lead to the water mirroring showing numerous shades of blue. Several caverns mirror the brilliant phosphorescent colours of the underwater flora; other caverns show a deep dark shade of blue.

The Blue Grotto is a popular destination for tourists on the island of Malta with boat trips to visit the caves, scuba diving snorkelling and rock climbing being the most popular activities here.

All prints are printed with an extra 2 inch white border, and include also my hand-written signature. Please note that if smaller or larger prints are desired, or on canvas, drop me a message.
