I've really enjoyed being involved with the Friends of the Earth's Bee Cause campaign and intend to keep painting bees! I celebrated the bee's involvement in apple pollination in the painting Bees in the Garden, this time it's pears. Without our busy, buzzy friends we would be without this wonderful fruit.
I've used vintage book pages, dating from the 1940s, relating to pears as the collaged background and then painted the plump juicy pear and the incoming bee in acrylic inks. The base is a canvas block, this is slightly out of square (as you can see from the close up framed photo) but I like this as it adds to the rustic, vintage nature of the piece.
The photos of the artwork framed are better for colour than the main picture, which is a lighter and less rich in colour than the painting actually is (the main picture is a scan which is great for picking up detail but not great at representing the colour of old paper correctly)
Incoming! is varnished with a satin varnish to protect it and professionally framed in a dark brown tray frame.
Your painting will be sent by Royal Mail's next day delivery service in the UK and via Parceforce overseas.
