My husband and I love to take hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, USA. I completed this painting from a photograph I took while hiking on Fall River Road. The aspen along this stretch of road are just spectacular during Autumn. It is even more special if one happens to hear the bugle of a male elk during the rut season. I left a small heart-shaped opening in the leaves not too far from where the trees meet just over the road, hence the title of this piece. This piece is done my signature style--it has great texture applied with my palette knife.
