A clearing in a wood, spring. There are wild flowers and wood garlic everywhere and every single organism it seems wants a slice of sunshine. The spring light is so intense that everything glistens and dances in it: beech leaves, branches, tree trunks and the sky itself, even the plants on the ground. I made this painting by building up lots of layers of paint, each one revealing some thing of the one beneath, to achieve a shimmer of colours.
