Clay sculpture with integrated metal and wood , painted with acrylic and patinated. 72cm high, 27cm wide, 27cm deep. My friends asked me recently why I´ve changed to make predominantly sad and less beautiful sculptures in the traditional sense. I´ve found the answer whilst working on this sculpture. It´s simple: I just feel this way. Maybe I just didn´t notice how the lockdown slowly changed me and how the sadness slowly crept up on me. My state of being can be described in three words: "A shot pilot". I know for sure that one day I´m gonna fly again.
The story of Icarus is one of those legends of Greek mythology that fascinates audiences especially because of the character’s desire to go beyond human boundaries as well as for the tragic consequences this brought about.
The myth of Daedalus and Icarus tells the story of a father and a son who used wings to escape from the island of Crete. Icarus has become better-known as the flyer who fell from the sky when the wax that joined his wings was melted by the heat of the sun.
