Original artwork description:
Every year I pull out all my archived work; things that I wasn't willing to sell, or just weren't hitting me the right way to exhibit at the time. Invariably, there are several that hit me and I wonder, "why has this beauty been hidden away?". I answer myself, "I don't know".
I Miss You - Only Sometimes, was part of a series of mixed media work using only photocopies, vinyl transfer letters, and Coloraid paper from my design days at university.
The big phrases I used were "I Miss You", "I Love You", "I Want You", and "I Hate You" and were proceed by the demurred statement "Only Sometimes".
I am hard of hearing, a fact some know, but not the majority. I tend to hear only portions of what people say to me and I fill in the rest. This series of mixed-media work illustrated the auditory deficiency I experience in a visual way.
I love this little piece, and it was exciting to see this come out of the past and back into my life.
