Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

This is a drawing of a horse's head that I did in preparation for a commissioned portrait. My goal in these drawings is to explore the likeness of the subject and figure out which view captures the horse's personality best. I did this drawing in pencil and used cross-hatched strokes to create the structural planes of the face. I also use the cross-hatching to build up the values and give a feel for light on the form.

This particular horse was a warmblood gelding who was very very noble in his personality. I think his strong character really shows in his face.

Materials used:

Graphite pencil, acid free paper
