Artist's description:

In April this year my sister was in Nepal trekking in the Langtang region when the earthquake hit. She was trapped on the mountain dodging landslides and for 24 hours we heard nothing and feared the worst. The bravery and selfless actions of her guides and the local people saved her. When they finally reached safety these amazing people discovered they had lost their families, homes and community as the village of Langtang which they had left just two hours before the quake had been completely destroyed by a landslide. Since her rescue, her stories of the people in the Langtang communities where she has worked for years and their utter determination to rebuild amidst unbelievable loss, have stayed with me. It is their perseverance, strength and hope that have inspired this painting and all proceeds from it will go to my sisters fundraising efforts to help these determined people rebuild.
