Artist's description:

Original acrylic painting of a hoopoe bird applied by brush on 300gsm watercolour paper. The hoopoe is a colourful bird with a distinctive crest or crown of feathers, shown here at rest. This hoopoe is depicted on its preferred habitat of bare or lightly vegetated ground where the species forage. The hoopoe has long been of interest to humans as demonstrated by the depiction of them on the walls of tombs and temples of ancient Egypt. They were also mentioned in the Quran
