'Homecoming' and the Cardinal Bird
When I moved to America in 2001 and arrived in Carbondale it was night so I couldn't really see much of my new 'home'. The next day when I got up one of the first things I did was to go outside and see where I had come to (not much information on the internet at that time so I really had no idea where I'd decided to spend the next 3 years). I discovered the house I was living in had a beautiful garden, and as it was such a wonderful sunny day I sat out on the porch and observed everything that was going on around me. I was busy watching the birds when my landlady Valerie came outside to see how I was getting on. I asked her what type of bird I was looking at as it was so pretty and she told me it was a cardinal, which happened to be the state bird of Illinois.
Many years later, after my return to my childhood home in Scotland, one Saturday I went down to the local mart to have a look at the stalls they have (like a car boot). There was one stall that I liked to go to that collected for charity and when I was browsing I couldn't believe what I came across. It was a beautiful little suncatcher......shaped like a stylised cardinal bird. So through different spaces and time two of my 'homes' were connecting themselves.
These events helped to inspire this painting 'Homecoming', and the lovely suncatcher now hangs in my studio.
This painting has fixings on the back and is ready to hang. It does not require to be framed.
All of my artworks are issued with a Certificate of Authenticity, and they are always well packaged for delivery.
Many of the outer boxes I use to package my artwork are recycled due to the difficulty I have in purchasing new boxes to fit the size of my artworks in a way that best packages them safely. As a result there is no charge for this packaging, and only minimal costs are included in the shipping rate to cover costs for the internal packing materials used, which are new, and for the actual shipping cost.
If you have any questions with regards to this artwork please get in touch and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
