This painting's title comes from a line from a poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. "Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts". Using feet to symbolise 'home' on a fundamental level, brings to mind the notion of first landing on a new shore, or ones feet planted firmly on the ground; that a person is settled. Even think of Dorothy clicking her heels together three times and saying the immortal line: "There's no place like home". Has featured in an exhibition in Donegal this year about what 'Home' means.
