This is my homage to the masterful British sculptor Barbara Hepworth.
Having studied for a degree in Fine Art Sculpture (before finding my way into the inky world of screen printing) Hepworth has always been an important figure to me. As a student she was the first female sculptor that I ever learned about.
The piece that my print depicts is called Two Forms (Divided Circle) and was made from bronze in 1969. For many years one of the 6 that Hepworth made sat in Dulwich Park near to where I live. Sadly in 2011, metal thieves broke into the park over night and stole the sculpture.
The print is printed in three colours. A luscious metallic gold/bronze for the main body of the sculpture, a grey for the tarnished areas and a grassy green for the brushstroke base upon which the sculpture sits.
