Artist's description:

The painting is painted in my studio based on materials collected during the plainairs. Kernavė is also one of my favorite places of plainair.
Kernavė in the XIII century was one of the most significant centre of formation of the state of Lithuania. In this area there was a powerful defensive complex of five mounds. XII-XIV centuries At the bottom of it, a medieval city with about 3-4 thousand inhabitants grew. It had a fairly regular street system, housing houses and craftsmen's workshops. The hypothesis is that there might have been King Mindaugas capital.

Materials used:

Oil on canvas
