I love the way that old farm buildings and crofts just seem to sit in the landscape like they are and always have been a part of it. I think this is primarily down to the sympathetic way that these types of buildings were built with the designers having a deep respect for the land around them making sure that they used locally sourced materials that would compliment the landscape rather than contrast with it.
It is unfortunately a deep pity that modern builders do not seem to have the same sort of empathy. Hopefully this is a trend that can be reversed as people become more in touch with the wonderful landscape around them.
