Artist's description:

The cliff dwellings left behind by the Ancestral Puebloans (formerly known as the Anasazi) pepper the sides and the tops of the mesas around the Four Corners area in the southwestern United States - Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. They climbed in and out of these cliff dwellings using carved handholds on the cliff faces. When they left the area some 700 years ago, they left behind baskets, pottery, and food preserved in such a way that the seeds were still viable when the archeologists excavated the sites in modern day. Scientists are not certain why the ancient people left the dwellings, but I am certain, after having to climb down a 30 foot ladder to access this site, that they were not afraid of heights!

This 8"x10" print comes with an 11x14 green mat to off-set the orange of the Navajo sandstone. NO FRAME.
