Artist's description:

Mixed media on archival paper 22h x 30w by fine artist Sara Richardson

Her Escarboucle Nymphaea Cheesecake is a new addition to The Plight series - a large group of works that I am continuing to develop. This mixed media piece utilizes acrylic paint, charcoal, pastels and some conte' from the Louvre Museum gift shop. Her Escarboucle Nymphaea Cheesecake is created on acid-free, neutral pH BFK Rives cream paper.

Romantic, poetic and tragic...this work is based off of my own imaginings and what if's that come to mind when I think about Giraudoux's play Ondine. I don't want to rewrite the play (it's perfect the way it is) but I wonder..about...a leap forward in my imagined timeline of Ondine's life. The character is no longer young and saturated with her emotions. She’s older, wiser maybe even in her early to late 50’s.

She’s a professional baker and has added botany to her many studies -- she’s changed. The action(s) in her mature life are grounded in a newly formed definition of personal delight. Thoughts of her love and loss operate in the background of her mind instead of being the constant center of the present.

NOTE: Even though this piece sold, I would welcome commission requests in the same style. It would be fantastic to see 3 desserts lined up - in a home, restaurant or luxury hotel. Delicious.
