After a wonderful days walking around Birchover and Stanton Moor, we came upon this superb wind-eroded, sandstone, natural rock sculpture. It is locally known as the Corkstone because of its distinctive shape. I was in the mood to do some silhouette work and because the sun was fairly low, the Corkstone provided me with an ideal platform. This coupled with my wife's inclination to climb the rock was all the inspiration I needed, so up she went and I got to work!
My idea was to work low down to capture the gorgeous tangerine and honey sky and try and blend my wife with Corkstone; the silhouette being the perfect vehicle for this. We tried a few different poses but this shot seemed to encompass the mood of that lovely evening. The evening was quiet, with a few birds singing, with an atmosphere of peaceful solitude and an almost otherworldly tone. I hope I have managed somewhat to try and capture this serene moment in a single snapshot of trapped time, I'll let you the art lover decide.
As with all my artworks, the print run is limited to 10, and ten only. Each numbered print will be accompanied with a signed and number coded Certificate of Authenticity.
