Artist's description:

Sometimes we get so caught up in our busyness and our lives that we forget to connect to the world outside. Our own internal worlds can be a very lonely place, and the desire to be seen and understood drives us to want to connect with someone else. This painting is about finding the courage to reach beyond our comfort zone to find something else beyond what we call our reality.

I started with painting the sky and the clouds in acrylic, then I illustrated the penguins, the castle and the phone booth in watercolor and acrylic ink on watercolor paper. Then I cut them out and glue them onto the canvas, hence creating sort of a 3D effect, and also bringing a very unique feel to the paintings. My work is about penguins living in the sky, hence symbolizing the endless possibilities for the life we desire to create for ourselves, and the pursuit of one's dreams. By illustrating the penguins in a different medium and collaging them onto the painting, it also represents that they are not a part of the painting but are free to be anywhere they desire.

As an artist I stand for making my dreams come true, and my art speaks to people about having the courage to create the life they have always wanted.
