Another of my flowers to music paintings and I painted this one to Sade's Diamond Life album. The wild pansy Heartsease or 'the heart at ease,' and I was whilst I painted this. No judgement, just a mixing of two bold and contrasting colours, all was well with the world.
Painted with a memory in my mind, this flower grew rapidly amongst the cracks in the crumbling concrete paving in my Nan's backyard in Sunnymede, Oxford. They grew as any voracious weed would but are so beautiful. Each flower a different soul pushing through and creating cracks in the paving reminding us that the colourful soul of mother earth rules and nature can not be surpressed.
It is only when we try to replicate nature in a certain way that we realise how truly amazing it is. Petals blended with such contrasting colours is no easy task to recreate in oil. The dynamic colours of this wild pansy are perfect together but could you imagine wearing a deep purple top and bright yellow bottom - could you pull it off aswell as this flower?
