Artist's description:

This painting depicts a Thai lady all dressed up and ready to work in the rice fields as you can see everywhere apart from the face is covered. I used my Mom's face as I remember it, she really was a beautiful woman, unfortunately it was a hard life working in those fields and I regret she never saw my work as an artist.

The heat in those rice fields is intense, no shade and often not a breath of wind. Hard backbreaking work that thankfully is more often then not done by machine, now, but people still have to work along side the machine, and it's still a difficult life.

You can see she is carrying a heavy load and on her way to work, I think you can see in her face which is sad but beautiful she would rather be going somewhere else then to a rice field.
