I made this paper cut-out whilst Hazel was modelling. Working from life is frantic because poses only last for around 15 minutes, but I love the energy and abstraction it lends to the final result.
At first glance this cut-out may look like a painting, but the close-up shot shows some subtleties of the cut paper technique I use: there are rough edges where I've cut the paper with a scalpel, and you can see that the figure sits slightly away from the white backing paper. The dark silver paper has a beautiful quality to it - there are interesting variations in the colour, visible brush marks and a subtle sheen.
This piece comes in a protective plastic sleeve.
Each artwork is unique and hand made. I make the same designs in a maximum of 5 different colours. Once these 5 pieces have sold, the edition is over and no more artworks are produced from that design. I never make two of the same design in the same colour.
