Artist's description:

At the Salt Lakes of California, there are natural statues of birds incased in dried, hardened salt.

These birds were hot and decided to take a dip in the water, like most birds do, but little did they know that they would forever be incased in a salty shell forever. It's really a creepy, sad and amazing sight to see. No color, just a dirty, salty grey color hardened over there bodies.

I wanted to bring these salt frozen birds back to life and the only way I could do that is to paint them as I thought they were, with color.
