Although my paintings are typically inspired by the Scottish landscape, every so often a place I visit on holiday captures my imagination—such was the case with this piece. This scene is from the charming town of Haria in Lanzarote, affectionately known as “The Valley of a Thousand Palms.” On Saturdays, the town square comes alive with a bustling little market. Whether you’re browsing the stalls, making a purchase, or simply enjoying a coffee in the shade, it’s a wonderful spot to while away a few hours. The painting reflects a typical winter market day, when the locals are still wrapped in their warmer clothes. While the artwork is sold unframed, I have shown how it might look in a frame.
