Artist's description:

This painting was inspired by the blue bells on the banks of the canal bowing their heads and blowing gently in the spring breeze. It is produced using negative painting techniques where the image is formed by painting around the subject leaving behind the white paper. I leave this layer to dry and then paint another flower, this second flower takes on the colour of the paint I used to define the first flower. I leave this to dry then paint the third flower, this takes on the colour of the paint used to define the first and second flowers and so the image builds. I have also added some speckling along the way to build ineterst.
