Artist's description:

A winter painting in delicate blues and silvers has all the lucidity and silence of a cold day.

Like most of my figurative work, it is not strictly a portrait - but my models, even though fictional, are not strangers to me. They are all inspired by people: family members, characters from literature and film and even accidental passers-by on the street, who get my attention though their personal style, body language and unassuming charisma. Seemingly lost in thought, as she gathers up the many layers of her flowing dress, the protagonist of a “Handful of cold” shares a grown woman’s sophistication and a young girl’s innocence.

A result of many layers of oil paints and colour decisions that contributed to its light, yet textural effect, this painting is made on self-stretched natural canvas a highest-quality painting surface.

Materials used:

heavy-duty natural canvas, triple-primed, oil paints
