Barns, sheds and other utilitarian structures were very common where I grew up and most included some sort of handmade latch. These doors and latches became weathered and worn over the years, giving each one a unique character. This painting takes me back to my grandfather's farm where life was simple and unhurried.
I try to make these panels standard sizes for easier framing.
