In this brand new series, I'm exploring my love of the Japanese language of flowers, or "hanakotba". The fluidity of the watercolor floral imagery calls to mind Japanese silk kimono fabric. While the somewhat structured, yet abstracted pattern work and organic shapes created in acrylic paint mimic the intricate beauty found in Japanese prints. The dichotomy of contrast between the two have set my creative heart on fire.
10x10 in size, and painted on canvas in watercolor and acrylic. Varnished with an archival satin finish, and ready to hang right out of her box, with the appropriate hardware already attached. Painting is carried over onto the sides of the canvas, so framing is optional, but not necessary. Signed, numbered and dated on the back.
