Artist's description:

The Griffin is a mythical beast made up of the front half and wings of an eagle and the hind quarters of a lion. He was popular in medieval art and heraldry, being famed for his strength. I took inspiration from many different medieval manuscripts for this fabulous beast and his foliate border.

This is a Varied Edition; I use individual lino stamps for the leaves, so the the number, placement and ratio of red to gold leaves will vary from print to print.

The Gryphon is hand printed using oil-based inks on British-made 300gsm Somerset paper. All prints are individually signed.

Minor variations occur naturally through the printmaking process and each print is original.

Paper size 32cm x 25cm. Actual image size 26cm x 17cm.

This print is unmounted and unframed.

Each print is board-backed, wrapped in cellophane and packaged carefully for shipping.

Materials used:

300gsm Somerset paper, oil-based inks, linoleum
